2016 James Bowie High School World Winter Guard places 5th in the Winter Guard International Championships

The 2016 James Bowie High School World Winter Guard placed 5th this weekend at the Winter Guard International Championships. This ranking makes Bowie HS the first school in the state of Texas to have a scholastic world team be ranked in the Top 5!

The group placed 5th in the Scholastic World Class Pre-lims, and placed 3rd in the Semi-Finals, making them the first Texas Scholastic World team to be placed in the top 3. The students also received a 99 in GE and tied for 1st with Tarpon Springs the 2016 World Class Champion. A score of 99 is given to teams that are pushing the boundaries of the activity and moving it in a new direction! On Saturday, the students performed in front of a sold out audience of over 8,000 people.

Bowie HS is the first Scholastic World Team in WGI History to place in the Top 3/5 in their first year of Scholastic World Class. This is also the second undefeated season for this team and its 4th State Championship win that includes winning all competitive classes from Scholastic A, Scholastic Open, and Scholastic World.

Huge congratulations to the 2016 James Bowie High School World Winter Guard and their director, Joseph Powell! Incredible work!
